Brown Butter Sugar Cookies

Brown Butter Sugar Cookies
Some browned butter and some dark brown sugar make the deep flavor pop in these cookies! :)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Melt 10 tablespoons of butter in a small, pot or saucepan.

Swirl the pan constantly for about 5 minutes, until the butter turns brown and has a nut-like aroma.  Do not burn.

Set the pan aside, off of the heat for about 15 minutes, or until completely cool.

While the butter is cooling, mix together the sugar and 1/4 cup brown sugar in a small bowl and use your fingers to mix together well.

When the mixture is cool, pour it into your mixer, then add the brown sugar.  Mix well.

Add the egg yolk, egg, and vanilla extract and mix.

Add the baking soda, the baking powder, and the salt and mix well.

Add one cup of flour and mix well.  Then, add the second cup of flour.

Roll out into balls on cookie sheets lined with parchment paper, then roll the balls in the sugar-brown sugar mixture.  Bake for about 11 minutes.

They're done when the sides are brown and the tops crackle.
