Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies
Delicious chocolate chip cookies!

First, preheat oven to 350 degrees, then add butter to mixer and whip.

Add the 1 cup of sugar, and the 1 cup of brown sugar and mix.

Add the vanilla extract, mix, then the eggs, one egg at a time.


Dissolve the 1 teaspoon baking soda in 2 teaspoons hot water by stirring it in.


Add the mixture to the cookie dough.  Then, add the 1/2 teaspoon salt.
Add one cup of flour at a time, until you add 3 cups of flour.



Add the 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips (gently!).
Form dough into balls on pans lined with parchment paper or pans covered with aluminum foil, sprayed with non-stick spray.  Place cookies on middle shelf of oven, and bake for about 10 minutes (mine took about 13 minutes to fully bake).
Beautiful and classic!  Everyone's favorite!

Makes about 4 dozen cookies (mine: 48 cookies)

Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips


Directions:
1.  Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and whip up the butter in mixer until no clumps are seen.
2.  Add 1 cup sugar and mix.  Then, add the 1 cup brown sugar and mix.
3.  Add the 2 teaspoons vanilla extract , then add the eggs, one at a time, and mix very well.
4.  Dissolve the 1 teaspoon baking soda in 2 teaspoons hot water (by stirring), then add to the dough, along with the 1/2 teaspoon salt.
5.  Add one cup of flour and combine well.  Then, add the remaining 2 cups of flour, one at a time.
6.  Add the 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips, gently.
7.  Form into balls on parchment covered pans, or pans covered with aluminum foil, sprayed with non-stick spray.
8.  Bake for 10 minutes, checking often afterward (mine took about 13 minutes to fully bake).

**Update 12/22/2013 - Using different flavored chips works very well when baking these cookies-- especially using 1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 cup regular semi-sweet chocolate chips! :)
